Top 7 Campsites Along The Hudson Valley Greenway Trail

Many bikers attempt to ride the entire Hudson Valley Greenway Trail in four or five days. The question then becomes: What about overnight plans? Should you pay for a hotel or camp? Staying in a hotel is convenient, but can be costlier than camping.

Camping may cost you a fraction of what you'd pay in a hotel room when you carry your own gear.

The 315-mile journey along the Hudson Valley Greenway Trail starts at Battery Park and ends at Waterford City. You'll pass through several towns starting in the north, including Cornwall, Newburgh, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Kingston, Saugerties, Catskill, Hudson, Germantown, Athens, Coxsackie, and Albany.

Overview: Five days, four stops.

Trip: From Manhattan to Albany.

While the first half of the journey has few campsite options, there's no shortage of hotel options in these cities. Hotels include The Inn at Mahopac with modern rooms and suites and American cuisine. In Poughkeepsie, there's the Hilton Garden Inn with modern amenities including room service and complimentary WiFi. At your endpoint in Albany is the Comfort Inn which provides free WiFi and breakfast. The Albany Resort is another hotel near Nassau with a championship golf course, private villas, a luxury spa, and suites.
