The Hudson Valley Greenway Trail
The Hudson Valley Greenway trail is a roughly 200-mile trail through the heart of upstate New York. Starting in lower Manhattan, it meanders through the historic Hudson River Valley, and ends in the state capital in Albany. Once you exit New York City, you’ll pass through iconic locations such as the Walkway Over The Hudson, and visit a litany of small towns with beautiful scenery and local amenities: Hudson, Olana, New Paltz, and many others are on the way up to Albany. If you’re in the mood for mountain biking, take a small detour to reach the beautiful Catskills and Adirondacks.
Difficulty Level
The Hudson Valley Greenway Trail is mostly off-road and flat, making a relatively easy trip. There are fewer national park stops and campsites, so be prepared to look for lodging and supplies in nearby cities.

“The Albany-Hudson Electric trail is my favorite. The section in Nassau crosses with a Stewards, a pizza shop, and Smile’s ice cream along with great feeling of rural Americana sights like beautiful old barns.”
-Brendan V.
“I run marathons in the summer, so heat is a big factor. Several trail segments are more shaded than others, so…keep that in mind. Down the Hudson Valley Electric Trail in particular, there are areas that get very hot.”
-Dylan Rees
